Hastings-on-Hudson is the southernmost of the classic Rivertowns, five stops up from the Bronx line and under 30 minutes to Grand Central. The downtown packs a disproportionate restaurant density into four blocks, Maud's Tavern, Buffet de la Gare, a handful of newer rooms, and the weekend crowd skews local. Hastings is also where the Rivertowns' licensed cannabis retail starts, since Irvington and Dobbs Ferry opted out. Verify licensed status via the OCM QR code at cannabis.ny.gov. New York state law prohibits cannabis consumption on state-owned land and in public spaces, and the train platform, the waterfront and the aqueduct trail all count.
